Worship Arts Leader

Position Summary

ReBirth Cathedral of Praise is seeking a gifted, spiritually mature, creative, and dependable Part-Time Worship Arts Leader to provide leadership for the worship and musical arts ministry of the church.

The Worship Arts Leader is responsible for cultivating worship experiences that are Christ-centered, spiritually engaging, musically excellent, culturally relevant, and consistent with the vision and ministry philosophy of ReBirth Cathedral.

This position provides leadership to vocalists, musicians, and other worship arts participants while working collaboratively with pastoral leadership, production personnel, and ministry teams to create cohesive worship experiences.

The ideal candidate combines spiritual sensitivity with musical excellence, strong leadership, preparation, creativity, and a genuine heart for people.

 

Essential Responsibilities

Worship Leadership

  • Lead congregational worship during Sunday services and other assigned worship experiences.

  • Work with pastoral leadership to plan worship that supports the spiritual direction and theme of each service.

  • Select appropriate songs and musical elements consistent with ReBirth's theology, culture, and worship identity.

  • Create worship environments that encourage authentic congregational participation rather than performance alone.

  • Demonstrate spiritual discernment and the ability to respond appropriately to pastoral direction and spontaneous moments during worship.

  • Introduce new music while maintaining an appropriate balance of contemporary worship, gospel, traditional, and other musical expressions consistent with the ReBirth worship experience.

Worship Team Leadership

  • Recruit, develop, schedule, and provide leadership to vocalists, musicians, and other worship arts participants.

  • Conduct effective rehearsals that are organized, productive, spiritually focused, and respectful of participants' time.

  • Communicate schedules, music selections, arrangements, expectations, and changes to team members in a timely manner.

  • Develop the musical and spiritual capacity of worship team members through coaching, feedback, and discipleship.

  • Cultivate a worship ministry culture characterized by preparation, humility, accountability, unity, excellence, and mutual respect.

  • Address performance, attendance, preparation, and team-related concerns appropriately and in coordination with ministry leadership.

Music & Service Planning

  • Develop weekly worship sets in collaboration with pastoral leadership.

  • Prepare and distribute music, lyrics, arrangements, recordings, chord charts, tracks, and other resources necessary for rehearsals and services.

  • Ensure songs are appropriately arranged for the available vocalists and musicians.

  • Maintain an organized and current worship music library.

  • Participate in service planning meetings as requested.

  • Coordinate musical transitions, special selections, altar/ministry music, offering music, and other service elements.

  • Remain prepared to make appropriate musical adjustments when the direction of a worship service changes.

 

Worship Arts Development

  • Help develop a distinctive worship sound and culture that reflects the identity and vision of ReBirth Cathedral.

  • Identify and develop emerging musical and creative talent within the congregation.

  • Assist with the development of choirs, praise teams, ensembles, soloists, musicians, and other worship arts expressions as the ministry grows.

  • Support special productions, concerts, seasonal services, conferences, community events, and other ministry initiatives as assigned.

  • Recommend resources, equipment, training, and other opportunities that can strengthen the Worship & Arts ministry.

Production Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with audio, video, livestream, lighting, and other production personnel.

  • Participate in sound checks and ensure worship team members are prepared before services begin.

  • Communicate technical requirements to production personnel in advance whenever possible.

  • Maintain appropriate stage discipline and help establish professional standards for platform participants.

  • Assist in ensuring that both the in-person and online worship experiences reflect excellence.

Qualifications

Required

  • Demonstrated experience leading worship in a church or comparable ministry setting.

  • Strong vocal and musical ability.

  • Working knowledge of contemporary worship and gospel music.

  • Ability to teach vocal parts and effectively lead rehearsals.

  • Strong understanding of worship flow, musical transitions, keys, arrangements, dynamics, and congregational worship.

  • Ability to lead and develop both experienced and developing musicians and vocalists.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Dependability and consistent preparation.

  • Ability to work effectively with pastoral leadership, staff, volunteers, musicians, and production teams.

  • Ability to maintain flexibility in a dynamic ministry environment.

  • Availability for Sunday services, rehearsals, special services, and designated ministry events.

Preferred

  • Formal education or training in music, worship arts, theology, or a related discipline.

  • Experience directing a praise team, choir, or other vocal ensemble.

  • Keyboard/piano proficiency.

  • Familiarity with worship planning and presentation software.

  • Experience using tracks, stems, click tracks, in-ear monitoring, or other contemporary worship technologies.

  • Experience developing musicians, vocalists, and volunteer worship teams.

  • Experience within a growing or multicultural church environment.

Schedule & Time Commitment

This is a part-time position requiring regular Sunday availability.

The Worship Arts Leader should also be available for:

  • Weekly rehearsals

  • Worship/service planning

  • Team communication and preparation

  • Staff or ministry meetings as scheduled

  • Special worship services

  • Holidays and seasonal services

  • Conferences, revivals, concerts, funerals, or other ministry events when assigned

The specific weekly schedule and anticipated number of hours will be established by ReBirth Cathedral based on ministry needs.

Physical & Functional Requirements

The position may require the ability to:

  • Stand for extended periods during rehearsals and worship services.

  • Sing, speak, and communicate effectively in live and amplified environments.

  • Operate or interact with musical and audiovisual equipment.

  • Occasionally lift or move equipment and materials associated with worship ministry.

  • Work during evenings, weekends, and special events as required by the ministry schedule.

Compensation

Compensation: $65.00per Sunday

Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, responsibilities, and the approved ministry budget.
